Stable Tour

  • Banasan
As he is a good ground hourse he is on a break at the moment. I hope to have him back earlier this season as he could go in the Irish National, he is entitled to take his chance. He will probably go back to Galway again for the Plate.
  • Barati
He ran well to finish third to Strangely Brown at Punchestown and he finished second to the same horse in the Cashmans Hurdle at Leopardstown. When he ran in the Triumph Hurdle we discovered that he had a wind problem so he has been operated on and seems fine. He will run over Christmas and depending on how he runs and how is handicapped, we might go for the Pierse Hurdle.
  • Beechcourt
He has had his problems since winning two bumpers and finishing second to Hardy Eustace. We will campaign him over two miles and he will mix it this season. He’s rated 125 over hurdles and 123 over fences. I fancied him in Cheltenham last year, but he was kept too far back and when he did make up his ground he had nothing left. He ran well in the Listed Dairygold Chase at Cork, being beaten half a length by Davenport Democrat. He’s not going to be easy to place. He runs in the opener at Faiyhouse on Sunday.
  • Bisley
He wasn’t good enough to win a bumper so he goes straight over hurdles now. He will run in a maiden hurdle quite soon. Two miles on good ground is ideal.
  • Caherme
He ran a nice race at Punchestown when finishing fourth to Tazmana and ran well for a long way at Gowran Park last Saturday in another good race. He will eventually go handicapping.
  • Commonchero
I thought he was a very good prospect until he fractured his pelvis when winning the Carbon Group Handicap Chase at Cork. He needed his first run back at Punchestown and I thought he would win the ACC Bank Handicap Hurdle back at Punchestown, but Silk Screen proved too good for him. He’s rated 122 over hurdles and I will give him one more run over hurdles at Fairyhouse today. As he’s rated 135 over fences he’s not going to be easy to place and he will have to contest condition chases where he will be taking on the best. He goes on any ground and two miles is his trip. His first chase could be the Hilly Way at Cork.
  • Doctor Linton
He won his maiden hurdle at Thurles and the Bank Of Ireland Hurdle at Down Royal. We gave him a break and brought him to Limerick where he won the Ladbrokes Beginners Chase. So he has given Senior Steward Pierce Molony a lot of fun. He finished second to Justified at Punchestown and then went to Cheltenham, but I told Ruby Walsh to hold him up because I don’t think he gets two and a half miles. He ran quite well and he could possibly go back to Cheltenham in March for a two-mile handicap chase.
  • Essex
He has achieved quite a lot and he’s only a five year old, winning the Cesarewitch, the Pierse Hurdle and the totesport Trophy Hurdle at Newbury last season. He came back this season and won the €55,000 Paddy Power October Handicap at Naas over a mile and a half and you would have to be pleased with his half a length defeat by Brave Inca at Punchestown. He will run in all the big hurdles, the Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting, the AIG Champion Hurdle in January and hopefully the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. Essex is due to run this weekend at Fairyhouse.
  • Forget the Past
He is a very decent horse, winning a point-to-point, a beginners chase, The Irish Field Novice Chase, the Grade 1 Ascon/Rohcon Chase at Leopardstown, the Grade 2 Ellier Developments Novice Chase at Punchestown and should have beaten Like-A-Butterfly in the Powers Gold Cup. I sent him to the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham because he badly needed the race to get him ready for the Hennessy Gold Cup last Saturday. In that race he was giving weight to Our Vic and Monkerhostin which is unfair. When I saw that the English handicapper put him up again and that he would have 11st 12lb, I had no option but to keep him at home. His next run will be in the Durkan Chase and all being well the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting. We will know the how good he is then. He looks to me to be a real Grand National horse, maybe the Irish National this year and the English National next season.
  • High Priestess
She won in Tralee and Limerick this year and we were delighted to get some back type for her at The Maze when she finished second to Laetitia. The plan is get further black type as she will finish her racing days at Christmas and go to Stud. Runs in the Grade 1 Royal Bond on Sunday.
  • In Compliance
He was a very impressive bumper winner and his runs over hurdles in the spring were very good. He won his maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse, he was beaten a short head by Major Vernon and he was possibly unlucky in the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown where he finished a close third, but pulled off a shoe at the fourth last. The intention is to go give him one more run over hurdles at Fairyhouse today and then we will go novice chasing at Punchestown on December 11th. He could be a very decent novice chaser as he jumps well. Two miles is his trip and he is versatile as regards ground.
